Post-Bachelor's Teaching Certification - Grades PreK-4 Education

An accelerated path for those who already hold a bachelor's degree and wish to begin teaching elementary education (PreK-4) in Pennsylvania in as few as 9 to 16 months. After the initial requirements for PA Instructional I Certification are met, you can begin teaching while completing the remainder of the courses and field experiences. Graduate Intern Teaching Certification – Grades PreK-4 Education

T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® Pennsylvania Scholarship Program and Drexel University are partnering to offer scholarships to Pennsylvania childhood educators. 

When should I apply for the T.E.A.C.H. Scholarship?

How does T.E.A.C.H. work? What are the criteria for participation?

  • You need to have been working for at least 6 months in a Keystone STARS child care program
  • You need to have 55 credits or an Associate’s Degree before you can be admitted to the BS in Education program at Drexel with a T.E.A.C.H. scholarship
  • You need to be working for approximately 30 hours/week 
  • Your current teacher salary should not be more than $19/hour for teachers and $25/hour for center directors
  • For each year you receive a T.E.A.C.H. scholarship, you will need to work for one additional year at your center
  • You will receive a higher salary as you make progress in your program of study / based on your contract with T.E.A.C.H.
  • T.E.A.C.H. will pay you to complete field placements or student teaching requirements which may take you out of the classroom
  • T.E.A.C.H. will pay your center to cover the cost of a substitute teacher if you need to be out of the classroom for school-related purposes
  • You can complete at least some of your student teaching at your current center so long as you are working with a certified teacher
  • Child care directors can also receive a T.E.A.C.H. scholarship
  • You must live and work in Pennsylvania
